What this site does

SolarStateData helps US homeowners understand state solar subsidies, rebates, tax credits, exemptions and utility programmes. Our first job is to explain what is available, who qualifies, when to apply and where to find the official rules. Solar cost estimates and backup-power tools are supporting resources, not the main purpose of this site.

Sources and method

State and market pages use sources such as DSIRE, the US Energy Information Administration, NREL, state public-utility commissions, tax authorities, manufacturers, and published market datasets. Each page identifies its source set and update date.

Figures are estimates, not quotes. Incentives and utility tariffs change, so readers should confirm eligibility with the programme administrator before making a purchase.

How incentive guides are checked

We identify the administering authority and separate cash rebates, income-tax credits, sales/property-tax treatment and ongoing electricity payments. Each state guide shows its review date, official sources and material conditions. A published maximum is not a guaranteed award. Live budgets and utility rates may change between reviews; uncertain amounts are omitted or explicitly labelled rather than guessed.

We are independent, not a government agency, tax adviser or installer. We do not collect applications or determine household eligibility. The programme administrator, tax authority or utility makes that decision. Current state coverage is disclosed rather than presented as a complete 50-state database.

Commercial model

Some clearly marked product links are affiliate links. SolarStateData may earn a commission when a reader makes a purchase, at no extra cost to the reader. Commercial relationships do not guarantee inclusion or a positive assessment.

Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, product analysis is based on specifications, documentation, warranty terms, pricing, and owner feedback, not claimed first-hand testing.
